Press Release 15 March 2004

LOW PAY COMMISSION VISIT TO SCOTTISH BORDERS

Three Low Pay Commissioners will visit the Scottish Borders on a fact-finding visit about the National Minimum Wage on Friday 16 January.

John Cridland, Ian Hay and Paul Gates will meet employers and employees to find out how the minimum wage has affected them.

Low Pay Commissioner Ian Hay said: “Visits are an important way of hearing first hand how the minimum wage is affecting businesses and workers.  Also, this year the Low Pay Commission is examining the case for a minimum wage for 16 and 17 year olds, so we are particularly keen to hear views on this.”
